About my Home Studio.
I realised that a key component of Lomi and much of Pacific Massage is massage is generally conducted in your home, or village - here is the wairua (spirit) of who we are and also a place of safety, nurturing and privacy. My home is not fancy, and Otara can freak some people out, but for many, my home is the safest and caring Massage Hale (house) they have come to know.
FAQ
- How is the Massage Conducted?. In my Studio, I use a professional massage table*, with clean towels & linen for each session. Lomi is best done lightly clothed and the use of draping (towels and sheeting to cover your modesty). However everyone is different and the key is you are comfortable and relaxed, just state at the begining how you want your massage conducted and what you are comfortable to wear.
- *Some Massage treatments may involve wrapping with KawaKawa Leaf or warm herbal cloth; this is best done on comfortable mats on the floor.
- If you are female, here are my Masseur Protocols - As a male, when working with female clients, it is important in your massage you feel safe. You are welcome to call, video conference, call in and discuss your massage prior to your appointment; and as always I welcome family style where you can bring aunty, (cos we are all scared of that aunty eh!). Protocols of modesty etc hopefully are covered above; but this is your massage so just reach out if you need.
- What do I need to do prior to my Massage? I recommend you don't eat at least 2 hours prior, and then one hour before try not to drink tea or coffee. Washing and personal hygiene is important, if you are coming straight from work or a work-out you are welcome to shower at my home first, great if you can bring your own towel if you do!
- Holistic massage service. My focus is drawing on the traditions of Hawaiian and Pacific Massage culture and the empowering healing it brings. Touch is a powerful way of restoring your sense of well-being, both for your Mind and Body; Don't be afraid to ask questions, talk freely about the massage and your hopes and goals for your time
- Additional Health & Safety. Following AMA US guidelines for Massage studios & clinics, I have implemented a range of additional Health Safety practices in response to COVID19, including sanitisation of the massage equipment, use of a Hepa Filter System, Use of Masks when needed and health checks of each client.
